New Position Entry Plan

Welcome!

Reflecting on past practice, one of the things I wish I would have thought of and implemented in my transition from Arizona to Iowa would have been a solid entry plan.  This would have expedited my effectiveness as a leader and made my transition smoother.  In all, if I were to ever pursue another position, my entry plan would be embedded with my following values:
  1. COLLABORATION AND TEAMWORK
  2. SHARED LEADERSHIP
  3. DATA DRIVEN DECISION MAKING
  4. EQUITY

I would follow the general guideline listed below in four phases along with the objectives:
PHASE 1: Pre-Selection and Interview Process
Begins with the application and interview process by conducting organizational research and asking the right questions to create the basis of my plan.

PHASE 2: Relationships (Listening)
Begins after selection for the position, begin intentionally building relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders.  Conduct research on the mission, vision, and collect data.

PHASE 3: Relationships (Listening/Learning)
Begins after contracted start date and focuses on meeting individuals and school leadership teams.  Begin to develop action plans.

PHASE 4: Implementation (Leading)
Begins when the school year begins.  Collect data on school culture while focusing on action plan implementation, progress monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Long Range Essential Outcomes
After completing my entry plan cycle, aligned an action plan with district goals, and shared with staff, there are some essential outcomes which will demonstrate a highly effective school.
